An attempt to smuggle drugs from Syria to Jordan was thwarted by the Jordanian Armed Forces on Saturday, said an official military source.

One of the smugglers was injured during the operation, and the others fled back to Syria.

A total of 252 bags of cannabis were seized.

The eastern military region will deal firmly and decisively with any infiltration operation or smuggling attempt in order to protect citizens and the security of the Kingdom's borders, the source said.
