Two patients diagnosed with coronavirus were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), as announced by the spokesman for the National Committee for Epidemics, Dr. Nazir Obaidat, today.

Obaidat stated that local COVID-19 cases are still within the acceptable rate, which is less than ten cases per day, meaning the general epidemiological situation in Jordan is fine and reassuring. However, all confirmed cases coming from abroad are much greater than usual.

In an official statement made to the Public Security Directorate (PSD) radio station, Amen FM, Obaidat noted that there is a clear regression in regards to public safety measures, especially wearing face masks in crowded areas, stressing the importance of people’s commitment to these measures in order to maintain the current health status.

He also mentioned that the current epidemiological situation and related indicators are important factors in determining the return of new sectors to work, explaining that the matrix set by the government is clear and once the country reaches a certain epidemiological stage, these businesses will be allowed to start operating.

Before then, new activities might be unsafe, as the number of corona cases could increase if people do not comply with all safety and preventive measures.
