Despite impact of corona on global tourism, Petra visitors increase by 10% in February

The number of foreign visitors to Petra in February increased by 10% to 74,843 guests, compared with the same period of 2019, when the ancient city welcomed 68,087 visitors, the Petra Development and Tourism Regional Authority (PDTRA) announced Sunday.

PDTRA Chief Commissioner, Suleiman Farajat, said that despite the impact of the coronavirus on global tourism, the city of Petra witnessed an increase in the number of tourists, noting that the total number of visitors in February reached 81,406, compared with 74,413 last year.

Farajat stressed the need to combine efforts among all relevant authorities to deal with health challenges in the best way in order to handle the outbreak of the virus.
