A dentist has been physically abused by a patient, who usually receives treatment at a dental center in Amman on Saturday, May 18, 2019.

The Jordan Dental Association (JDA) denounced the physical assault and stated that the citizen attacked the dentist at his workplace and beat him severely, causing him rib fractures, after which the dentist was referred to hospital for treatment.

The JDA called for a firm stance to stop the series of repeated attacks on medical staff in Jordan, and to take the necessary legal actions against who commits such actions.

The JDA also check on the health condition of the dentist and addressed the administrative governor and the director of the Public Security Directorate (PSD), demanding the arrest of the aggressor as soon as possible in order to take immediate deterrent measures against him.

Spokesman for the JDA Omar Qawasmi, stressed the need to amend legislation to ensure that there are legal provisions that protect the medical staff in Jordan and to increase the punishment of the aggressors, which in turn leads to deterring all those who seek to attack a dentist, a doctor or the medical staff in general.
