Less than a month after the opening of the longest sea crossing bridge in the world at 55 km, China announced on Monday, November 19, 2018 that the world’s longest double-deck suspension bridge will be built in Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province.

The massive Yangsigang Bridge, which will be the 10th bridge across the Yangtze River in Wuhan, will cost $1.15 billion to construct.

The 1,700 meter bridge is expected to be completed in October 2019, with six lanes on the upper deck, six lanes on the lower deck, a cycle lane, and a pedestrian footpath on either side, according to the Daily Mail.

The bridge consists of 49 huge steel beams, weighing a thousand tons each, equivalent to 185 Asian elephants.
