Search and rescue teams with the Civil Defense Directorate (CDD) located 12 people who went missing in Wadi Bayer in the Ma’an Governorate.

The missing people were found safe and sound on Saturday afternoon, the CDD has said.

During the CDD’s rescue missions, 3804 tourists were evacuated, including 3762 tourists who were in the city of Petra.

While the death toll has risen to 12 victims, CDD rescue teams are still searching for a missing girl whose parents’ car was swept away by the flash floods in Madaba on Friday.

In an official statement, Jordanian Minister of State for Media Affairs Jumana Ghunaimat, confirmed that CDD efforts are still ongoing in search for the missing girl.

The Public Security Directorate (PSD) said that the emergency service number, 911, received a total of 21,176 calls, which were answered and dealt with accordingly.
