Petra receives 29% visitors more in October 2018

During October 2018, the city of Petra has witnessed a remarkable increase in the number of Arab and foreign tourists, according to a report that was recently issued by the Petra Development Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA).

When compared to October of 2017, Petra has seen an average increase of 29% in the number of visitors.

Chief Commissioner of PDTRA, Suleiman Farajat, stated that a total of 95235 visitors have gone to the ancient Nabataean city of Petra in this year’s October – compared to a number which didn’t exceed 74055 visitors in October 2017.

Farajat specified that out of the 95235 visitors, 83970 of which were foreigner tourists and 11265 locals and Arabs. In 2017, the estimated visitors to the ancient city reached a total of 600,000.
