Around 5.521 million Jordanians have received bread monetary support totalling around JD 163 million, according to a report released by the Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD).

The report indicates that 6.262 million individuals distributed among 1.339 million households have applied for the support. Among them are 679,600 individuals who were rejected as they did not meet the criteria.

The ISTD informed Petra News Agency that 607,900 of the 694, 300 applications they received through their portal www.da3mak.jo have been already processed and the rest are on the way.

The department encouraged citizens to use the website to track their application, check the amount and where to obtain it, and file complaints if they feltl their application was unduly rejected.

They stated they have received 26,200 complaints in their offices and online, 22,700 and 3,500 respectively and assured citizens that every complaint will receive a response, whether it be positive or negative.

The government introduced the monetary support after lifting bread subsidies. The alternative mechanism allows citizens to apply for support and receive 10 piasters per family member daily.
