It is rare that we see superhero movies come to life. Elon Musk has been compared to Toni Stark, but how about a superhero known for his heightened senses?

Jordan can boast its very own Daredevil and he is only 11-years-old. What is even better is that his abilities can be brought to life by the use of a simple blindfold.

Tareq Shanbour caught our eye and we went to Irbid to witness his abilities first-hand. The spectacle was indeed a sight to see.

He can avoid obstacles while driving a bike, mimic the movement of a friend situated across the playground, and guess colours. All of those activities he performs blindfolded.

What he can do without using his sight may seem challenging to pupils his age. Experts have evaluated his senses as a complete 6 out of 6, and that is with his eyes closed.

Tareq discovered he was able to distinguish shapes and colours with his eyes closed when his father, Ziyad Shanbour, decided to further develop his affinities through training.

In a period of two months, Tareq was able to significantly improve his natural abilities. His father downplayed the superpowers and explained that heightened senses can be achieved by practice and compared it to yoga.

Science may be able to explain the phenomenon. In March of last year, a study published in the journal PLOS ONE confirmed that compared to people who are not blind, blind people have heightened senses of hearing, smell and touch.

Tareq has proved to us that the enhancements can be induced by training. The study also concluded that other areas such as memory and language abilities can be improved, which explains why our 11-year-old “hero” reports he studies his lessons faster than he did before.
