King reviews progress in executive program for modernization of public sector

His Majesty King Abdullah II reviewed today, Tuesday, the progress of work in the executive program to modernize the public sector, emphasizing the importance of transparency, fairness, and efficiency in the mechanism of appointments in the public sector.

During his meeting with officials at Al-Husseiniya Palace, His Majesty pointed out the necessity of conducting an impact assessment on the projects implemented in 2023 to ensure feedback.

His Majesty, in the presence of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, stressed the importance of implementing fundamental reforms through the 2024 plan to ensure that citizens feel the impact of change in the public sector.

He emphasized the importance of clear and measurable result indicators and goals, as well as engaging all stakeholders in the public sector modernization project on an ongoing basis.

Prime Minister Dr. Bisher Al-Khasawneh stated that the government has worked on accomplishing the priorities of the executive program for the roadmap to modernize the public sector 2022-2025 according to the three axes: service development, institutional development, and legislative development within the specified timeframes.

Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of State for Public Sector Modernization Nasser Al-Sharida discussed the progress percentage in the executive program to modernize the public sector, which reached 90 percent of the scheduled work priorities for 2023.

He outlined the key priorities for the year 2024, which include 51 priorities distributed across government service components, procedures and digitization, organizational structure and governance, policy-making and decision-making, institutional culture, human resources, and legislation.

The meeting was attended by the Director of His Majesty's Office, Dr. Jaafar Hassan, and Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Touqan.
