The Israeli Occupation planning body approved on Wednesday the construction of approximately 3,500 new settlement units in various settlements located on Palestinian lands in the West Bank.

Around 2,452 units will be constructed in the Ma'ale Adumim settlement according to the decision, along with 694 units in the Efrat settlement and 330 units in the Kedar settlement, Hebrew media outlets reported. 

Last year, a total of 18,515 settlement units were approved in the West Bank, marking the highest number of new settlement units approved within a single year.
