Dr. Ziyad Al-Zoubi, head of the Jordan Medical Association (JMA) refuted claims of a 400 percent wage hike for doctors, stating that wage increases for general medicine doctors ranged from 30 percent to 40 percent.

Zoubi noted that rising operating fees for advanced surgeries had led to tensions with insurance companies, which, he alleged, have raised insurance prices by 200 percent to 300 percent.

Insurance firms reportedly object to costly advanced surgeries and opt for cheaper alternatives.

Meanwhile, Dr. Hazem Al-Qarala from the JMA's media committee explained the outdated wage regulations from 2008 and their incompatibility with the current wage system.

JMA approved 2021 wage regulations, yet insurance firms continue to enforce the 2008 rules.
