Friday, medical personnel in Myanmar were split between carrying out a civil disobedience campaign after Monday’s military coup and starting to vaccinate the at-risk civilians.

At a high school in Yangon, 4,000 people over the age of 65 received Indian manufacturs vaccines (COVIDSHIELD)

A elderly civilian Mya Yi, 67, expressed her gratitude to 'Mother Suu', the country’s ex-leader Aung San Suu Kyi who currently remains under arrest. "This is the result of the efforts of her government" she said after receiving the vaccine.

According to AFP, an increased amount of rallies took place in protest of the military coup in Myanmar. Friday, several hundred teachers and students protested at a Myanmar university as the military widened a dragnet against officials ousted in a coup that has drawn global condemnation and the threat of new sanctions.

The rally took place after the arrest of the key aide to Kyi, Win Htein, who was detained along with president Win Myint early Monday.

"As a citizen, I cannot accept this military coup at all," lecturer Win Win Maw told AFP. "We have to resist this dictatorship."
