All shops and institutions authorized to open shall be completely closed for 48 hours as of Thursday midnight, April 9, until Saturday midnight, the Minister of State for Media Affairs, Amjad Adaileh, announced today.

During a press briefing at the National Center for Security and Crisis Management, Adaileh said that the comprehensive curfew also includes the holders of permits.

Medical personnel working in the public and private sectors, epidemiological investigation teams and a limited number of employees and officials responsible for the work in some vital institutions are excluded from the 48-hour curfew and will be notified directly, the Minister confirmed.

Adaileh warned people against committing any violations during the curfew under legal responsibility.

"We confirm that these measures aim to preserve your safety and health and enable epidemiological investigation teams to resume their work efficiently," Adaileh stated, stressing that things will return to what they are now as of Sunday morning, April 12, 2020, so that citizens will be able to get their basic needs from shops and groceries on foot and vehicles authorized to move will be also allowed.
