Israel published, Wednesday evening, satellite images showing a military installation near the Lebanese border in northern Syria that is being used to manufacture precision surface-to-surface missiles.

According to the Israeli newspaper 'Haaretz' an intelligence report, published by ‘ImageSat International’ company, shows that missile engines or warheads are not being made at the site.

The site is in Safita in northwestern Syria, around 8 kilometers from the Lebanese border.

The company noted that the facility is located in an area controlled by the Assad regime and that Russian anti-aircraft batteries are deployed there.

According to the company, the type of construction, the location of the compound and evidence of activity at the site and its environs increase the probability that at issue is a missile manufacturing plant. Adding, however, there is no way to confirm this assessment due to suspicions that it’s an Iranian site.

The company said that in recent months there has been increased vehicular traffic to the site.
