Palestinians near the eastern border of the Gaza Strip received leaflets dropped by Israeli aircrafts on Friday morning. The Israeli Defense Forces’ (IDF) instructions, in an attempt to deter participation in the fourth Friday of the Great March Return, started their address to Gazans by telling them “ You are participating in violent and chaotic acts”.

Hours before the weekly Friday demonstrations the IDF warned protesters to refrain from getting close to the sparating fence or touching it. “Hamas is using you to hold terrorist operations,” the statement added.

Demonstrators moved the tents closer to the fence on Thursday and according to organizers, the sit-ins will be moving closer with each passing Friday until the Palestinian Nakba anniversary on May 15, indicating a possible breach in the border fence.

This Friday protests will be dedicated to prisoners and martyrs, acknowledging the almost 7000 Palestinians held in Israeli prisons and the more than 30 people who have died by Israeli fire since the beginning of the Great Return March, according to the Facebook page of the Great Return March. One of the many victims was also Palestinian journalist Yaser Murtaja.
