Jordanian ambassador to Mexico, Ibrahim Obeidat, confirmed that all Jordanians in Mexico were safe and unharmed by the earthquake that hit the southern Mexican coast on Thursday.

According to the BBC, the death toll has risen to 61 people at least, as rescue efforts are underway following an 8.1-magnitude quake.

"We have completed contact with all Jordanians registered with the embassy, and everyone is thankfully safe. Communications are underway to check on residents across Central America," he tweeted.
