Netherlands to close its embassy in Tehran as precaution

The Netherlands will close its embassy in Tehran tomorrow as a precaution due to the rising tensions between Iran and “Israel” - according to a statement by the Dutch Foreign Ministry..

The ministry said that it will decide tomorrow whether the embassy will reopen on Monday.

National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters yesterday, Friday that the Iranian threat of retaliatory strikes against the Israeli Occupation are “real and viable.”

"We still deem the potential threat by Iran here to be real, to be viable," National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters.

Senior Iranian officials have publicly threatened to retaliate against “Israel” for a strike that targeted the Iranian consular annex in Damascus, Syria which killed seven revolutionary guards including senior general Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a commander in the Quds Force in Syria and Lebanon.

American intelligence indicated that Iran could directly attack “Israeli” soil in the next 24 to 48 hours - as reported by the Wall Street journal on Friday.

A US official familiar with the matter cited by WSJ has said that “Israel” is preparing for a “direct attack from Iran on southern or northern Israel as soon as Friday or Saturday.”

A person briefed by the Iranian leadership said that while plans to attack are being discussed, no final decision has been made - according to WSJ.
