A Hamas delegation is set to depart for Cairo tomorrow in response to an invitation from the Egyptian government to discuss the latest developments regarding the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

A Hamas leadership source told Al Jazeera that there have been extensive communications in the past few hours between Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh and various mediators to restart negotiations in Cairo.

Haniyeh emphasized to the mediators the importance of commencing any new negotiation round based on a permanent ceasefire. He also underscored the necessity for a complete Israeli Occupation withdrawal and the unconditional return of displaced individuals.

Meanwhile, the Israeli Occupation military continues its airstrikes on civilian targets in Gaza, marking the 183rd day of its aggressive campaign. The toll from the Israeli Occupation aggression stands at 33,091 fatalities and 75,750 injuries since October 7, as reported by the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza.
