Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh stated Monday that he submitted his government's resignation to President Mahmoud Abbas.

The resignation was formally submitted today, and is currently at Abbas’ disposal.

During a cabinet session on Monday, Shtayyeh emphasized the need for new governmental and political arrangements in light of the evolving situation in the Gaza Strip, ongoing national unity talks, and the urgent necessity for Palestinian-Palestinian consensus based on national principles, broad participation, unity, and the extension of the Palestinian Authority over the entire Palestinian territory.

He emphasized that Palestine will remain in confrontation with Israeli occupation until the establishment of the Palestinian state.

"We have remained faithful to the martyrs, the prisoners, and our people in the besieged Gaza Strip, to our Palestinian national project, our educational curriculum, to Jerusalem, our sanctities, and to our heroic people, despite the unprecedented blockade imposed upon us. We have faced the challenges imposed upon us, none of which were of our making, and endured hardship for Palestine, because Palestine deserves our enduring sacrifices," he stated.

Shtayyeh expressed gratitude to President Mahmoud Abbas, Abu Mazen, for his wisdom and support, and to the cabinet team for their exceptional work under exceptional circumstances.
