A senior Hamas official stated on Sunday that the optimistic atmosphere surrounding the nearing deal on the exchange agreement does not align with reality.

He added that Hamas has engaged positively with the mediators to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people and cease the ongoing war.

The official further highlighted that Israeli Occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is avoiding addressing the crucial demands to halt the aggression, ensure a complete withdrawal, and facilitate the return of displaced individuals to the northern Gaza Strip.

He emphasized that the deliberate starvation of the Palestinian population in the north constitutes a genocide crime that jeopardizes the entire negotiation process.
