The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that its forces conducted five “self-defense” strikes against Houthi targets in Yemen - according to a statement Sunday.

The strikes took place on Saturday between 3:00 PM and 8:00 PM Sana’a time. It “successfully targeted three mobile anti-ship cruise missiles, one unmanned underwater vessel (UUV), and one unmanned surface vessel (USV),” per the statement.

CENTCOM added that it identified the targets and determined that it “presented an imminent threat to U.S. Navy ships and merchant vessels in the region.”

It highlighted that this is the first observed Houthi employment of a Unmanned Underwater Vessel (UUV) since the attacks began on Oct. 23.
