From Oct. 7 to Jan. 23, coinciding with Education Day, which falls annually on Jan. 24, the Israeli Occupation's continuous violations against education in Palestine have left a devastating impact on students, teachers, and educational institutions.

In the Gaza Strip, staggering figures released by the Palestinian Ministry of Education, reveals that 4,510 students were martyred, and 7,911 were injured during this period. Simultaneously, in the West Bank, 41 students were martyred, 282 were injured, and 85 were detained by Israeli Occupation forces.

Teachers and educational administrators faced severe consequences as well. In Gaza, 231 educators were martyred, and 756 were injured. In the West Bank, six educators were injured, and more than 71 were detained, highlighting the grim reality faced by those committed to shaping the future of Palestinian youth.

The Israeli Occupation did not spare schools from its aggression. Government schools in the Gaza Strip endured 281 assaults, with an additional 65 attacks on UNRWA schools. The West Bank witnessed 42 assaults on government schools, adding to the growing list of educational institutions affected by the war on Gaza.

As the Israeli Occupation's aggression persists, 133 schools have been repurposed as shelters since the onset of hostilities in Gaza. This not only disrupts the education system but also puts the safety and well-being of students and staff at risk.

The data reflects a dire situation, with education being a prime target during the Israeli Occupation's offensive. The international community faces a critical responsibility to address these violations, protect the right to education, and work towards a sustainable solution for lasting peace in the region.
