Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply, Yousef Al-Shamali, affirmed that geopolitical tensions in the Red Sea will have a clear impact on the prices of shipping food and consumer goods, noting an increase in container prices arriving in Jordan.

Al-Shamali stated that the ministry has made a decision to set limits on shipping prices. He addressed the silos company to allow private companies to store at cost without imposing any additional burdens on anyone wishing to store.

He added that bread prices will not change until the end of the current year, regardless of the current circumstances. He explained that the ministry has allocated JD 226 million to support both bread and barley.

Regarding the strategic stockpile of materials such as sugar, rice, and oil, Al-Shamali confirmed that it meets global needs and exceeds two months. He pointed out the private sector's commitment to maintaining prices at pre-shipping cost increase levels, with continuous government monitoring of price increases for pre-existing goods.

He emphasized that the Industry Law empowers the ministry to regulate markets, especially with the approach of Ramadan. Given the expected price increases during the current events and increased market demand during Ramadan, legal measures will be taken, and penalties will be imposed on violators.

Qualified ministry monitors will monitor prices, and Al-Shamali emphasized that prices will not rise during the holy month unless new materials subject to different and higher shipping fees enter the market.

Al-Shamali referred to the national strategy for export as a key document for the economic reform system with three goals: increasing export figures, ensuring sustainability, and diversifying Jordanian products in global markets. He affirmed that the ministry's budget is similar to the previous year's, and the ministry continues to implement the economic reform vision.
