The United States Secret Service stated that a vehicle collided with the outer gate of the White House compound in Washington prior to 6pm yesterday, Monday, Eastern Time.

The Chief of Communications for the US Secret Service, Anthony Guglielmi, confirmed that authorities detained the driver for questioning regarding the cause and manner of the incident. Guglielmi noted that President Biden was out of Washington when the incident occurred.

It is not immediately clear whether the collision was a mere accident or a potential attack on the building located in the center of the capital, Washington.

The White House has not yet responded to a request for comment on the incident. However, a White House official believes that global geostrategic risks remain high.

Last month, a man from Delaware was charged with driving under the influence after his car accidentally collided with President Joe Biden's motorcade.

- Series of intrusions -

In recent years, the White House has experienced a series of intrusions, attempted breaches, and infiltration incidents, leading authorities to install a taller and more robust metal barrier around the premises in 2020.

In 2017, a man scaled the fence of the presidential compound and roamed inside the famous residence for over 16 minutes before being apprehended. All of this occurred while then-President Donald Trump was inside the White House.

In 2014, during Barack Obama's presidency, a former US Army veteran climbed the White House fence and quickly ran into the building, carrying a knife in his pocket.
