More sectors announce joining global strike Monday

Various Palestinian institutions, trade sectors and industries have announced their participation in the global strike on Monday to protest the US veto that thwarted a resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

They also condemn the ongoing aggression and intense bombardment of the region since Oct. 7.

The Palestinian Monetary Authority announced the closure of the banking system to clients Monday, emphasizing that there will be no clearing session Monday.

Youth movements, unions and Palestinian factions have called for a comprehensive strike to demand a ceasefire in Gaza following the veto.

The General Union of Transport Workers in Palestine has urged global solidarity among workers, especially those in the transportation sector, to take to the streets and protest until the aggression on Gaza stops.

Fatah's Territories of the West Bank and Jerusalem issued a statement, urging a general and comprehensive strike in rejection of the US veto and in harmony with the global call for a general strike to demand an end to the aggression on Gaza.

Fatah affirmed that the global strike is a rejection of American domination and stands in solidarity with the Palestinian people.

The Palestinian Teachers' Union announced the suspension of work (comprehensive strike) in all Palestinian schools, education directorates and the Ministry Monday, Dec. 11, 2023.
