"We welcome all efforts that could bring the necessary humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, and we are ready to intervene," said the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) spokesperson, Hicham Hanna, calling for "respect for the application of the principles of international humanitarian law".

Meanwhile, a second convoy of 17 trucks of aid entered Gaza from Egypt Sunday, following an initial delivery of 20 trucks Saturday after intense negotiations and pressure from the US.

"We're not leaving. We are waiting as well. Tons of humanitarian aid have been prepared by the International Committee of the Red Cross, as well as specialized teams, including war injury specialists, who are waiting for the signal to enter Gaza and reach the hospitals to provide assistance alongside the doctors, nurses and medical staff who are carrying out a sacred humanitarian mission."

"The ICRC calls for respect for the application of the principles of international humanitarian law, which provide for the protection of civilians and civilian goods, and for medical and paramedical teams and ambulances to be able to reach safe areas as quickly as possible to save those who can be saved," he added.

"On the other side of the Rafah land border crossing, we are waiting for the signal to enter and allow the entry of humanitarian supplies brought in by the International Committee of the Red Cross. Similarly, specialized teams from various backgrounds will begin work as soon as they are allowed to enter," he said.
