Cristiano Ronaldo, the renowned Portuguese football star, took legal action against his former Italian club, Juventus, over unpaid financial obligations amounting to $20 million.

Ronaldo, along with his legal team, is pursuing the recovery of this sum, which Juventus had committed to pay him after he agreed to a reduction in his annual salary during the COVID-19 pandemic, which had adversely affected the club's financial stability.

In March 2020, Ronaldo had consented to a four-month salary reduction during the pandemic. However, it had been mutually agreed upon by both the player and the club that he would be compensated with this sum at a later date, as reported by the Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper.

This legal action follows a recent financial settlement reached between former Juventus striker Paulo Dybala and the club, amounting to approximately $3.2 million. It underscores the ongoing efforts by football stars to assert their financial rights.

Ronaldo's departure from Juventus took place in August 2021, as he transferred to Manchester United, before subsequently joining Saudi Arabia's Al-Nassr in January 2023.
