Sources close to the government and the parliament revealed Saturday that Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh is preparing for his seventh cabinet reshuffle since its formation in late 2020.

A source speculated that the reshuffle will involve six ministers, including those responsible for Water, Industry and Trade, Government Communications/ Government Spokesperson, and Public Works and Investment.

Additionally, two deputies may join the government to oversee the portfolios of government communication and investment.

In the event of the deputies' appointment, they will be required to resign from their parliamentary positions, allowing the two highest vote-getters from their respective blocs to assume their seats.

This move is in line with recent constitutional amendments emphasizing the separation of powers.

Executive and legislative circles anticipate the Khasawneh government to remain in office until the next parliamentary elections in the fall of 2024. This aligns with the Head of State's desire to synchronize the executive branch's term with the four parliamentary sessions.

The expected cabinet reshuffle within the next 48 hours is anticipated to be extensive. The second reshuffle covered 11 portfolios in March 2021, while the fifth saw six ministers depart in October 2022.

The most recent adjustment to the government took place in the last third of December 2022, with Makram Al-Qaisi assuming the role of Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, replacing Nayef Al-Fayez.

Khasawneh's government has been tasked with overseeing the implementation of a strategic package for political and economic reform, as well as the enhancement of public administration.
