As winter approaches, questions about Jordan returning to wintertime resurface. Last year, the government decided to maintain daylight saving time throughout the year, sparking significant debate among the Jordanian public. Many called for reverting to seasonal time changes.

In a statement last year, the government explained that this decision followed an extensive study, which concluded that maintaining summer time allows for maximizing daylight hours and reduces evening and nighttime working hours, especially for evening shift students, university students, and employees in both the public and private sectors.

The decision, however, faced strong opposition from some citizens due to early morning school and university schedules. Students often head to their educational institutions before sunrise, which they deem as a safety concern.

A poll conducted by the Center for Strategic Studies (CSS) after the government's decision revealed that 61 percent of Jordanians oppose the year-round implementation of daylight saving time.

Meanwhile, 25 percent support keeping daylight saving time throughout the year, and 11 percent favor maintaining standard time year-round.
