The Emirati astronaut Sultan AlNeyadi landed back on Earth Monday morning.

He returned safely with his Crew-6 mates - Nasa astronauts Stephen Bowen and Woody Hoburg, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev on board the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft.

The splashdown occurred in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Jacksonville in the state of Florida in the United States.

The Crew-6 spent 186 days in space, enabling AlNeyadi to break the record of the longest mission in Arab history.

Alneyadi took to Twitter and wrote: Space, this is not a goodbye. I will see you later, whether on a new mission to the ISS or a farther destination. I thank my beloved country for turning our dreams into achievements and all of you for your trust and affection. Wish us a safe return. We'll meet soon."
