An employee of the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) has been suspended for a period of 15 days by the Public Prosecutor of Integrity and Anti-Corruption, pending investigations into suspected bribery.

The employee in question had been assigned to inspect unlicensed shops for over 16 years. However, allegations have emerged suggesting that during this time, the employee had been coercing shop owners into paying a monthly fee ranging from JD 50 to JD 100 under the threat of closing down their establishments.

Upon receiving a complaint from a shop owner, the Jordan Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission (JIACC) promptly took action and implemented the necessary legal measures to address the misconduct.
