At least 100 people died in the states of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh in India, as a result of a severe heatwave that hit the region over the past three days.

According to the Indian News Agency, about 400 people were taken to hospitals, suffering from fever, shortness of breath, and other health complications, most of them over the age of 60.

According to a medical official, most of the deaths were caused by heart attacks, brain strokes, and diarrhoea.
