The long-awaited Royal Wedding day is finally here and people from all around the globe are tuning in to watch His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein and Miss Rajwa get married Thursday afternoon. 

Here's what to expect:

Local, regional and global figures will come together to form a distinctive tapestry of society, resulting in a uniquely Jordanian royal event.

The couple will be married at Zahran Palace in an elegant religious ceremony befitting of a Hashemite descendant of the Prophet Mohammad, peace be upon him.

The couple will then move to Al Husseiniya Palace in a motorcade procession for the wedding reception, which will feature a diverse line-up of performers paying tribute to the Crown Prince’s military career, his bride’s Saudi Arabian heritage, and traditional Jordanian artistry.

At each of the wedding venues, guests will enjoy a distinctive setup incorporating simple modern decor merged with Islamic art, Jordanian handicrafts, and the country’s native flora.

National Significance 

The Crown Prince’s wedding will serve as a landmark historical moment for the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and a touchstone in the country’s century-long story.

Notably, June 1, 2023 has been declared a national holiday, with celebratory events hosted in all 12 of Jordan’s governorates to allow the nation’s people to take part in the festivities.

Past Events

Royal banquet

Wednesday, a royal banquet was held at the ‘Madareb Bani Hashem’ at the Royal Hashemite Court (RHC), in celebration of the Royal Wedding.

During the event, His Majesty King Abdullah II delivered a speech and presented HRH with the 'Sword of Justice and Defense.'

The dinner was attended by approximately 4,000 people.

Henna

On May 22, Her Majesty Queen Rania hosted a traditional Henna and dinner party, attended by more than 500 women from across the Kingdom.

The event featured performances by local singers, musicians, and folkloric dance groups. Henna artists were also on hand to apply intricate designs for guests using a natural temporary dye.

This pre-wedding tradition has been performed in the Middle East for centuries and is said to bring blessings to the couple’s union.
