His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday honored winners of the international and local Hashemite Competition for Holy Quran Memorisation and Recitation.

King Abdullah honored 37 national and five international winners, in addition to nine panel members and the competition’s supervisor.

Certificates were handed to winners at the closing ceremony, held at the King Hussein bin Talal Mosque.

This cycle of the competition saw the participation of 1,000 national participants from all age groups and governorates, as well as 43 international participants from Arab and Muslim countries.

The Hashemite Competition for Holy Quran Memorisation and Recitation for men and women is one of the oldest Quran competitions at the international level, launched in 1993 with Royal support and organized annually by the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.

Since its inception, the competition has witnessed the participation of 30,000 contestants, including 1,050 winners.
