Monday, an electrician died and four others were injured after an electric transformer caught on fire in Hay Al-Rasheed in Al-Rusaifa District in Zarqa.

The spokesperson for the Jordan Electricity Power Company (JEPCO) Mohammad al-Maharmeh told Roya that among the four people who were injured, one is in critical health condition and the others are in moderate health condition.

Roya's correspondent said that the fire broke out Sunday night while maintenance work was being conducted by five of JEPCO's employees.

Maharmeh said that an investigation committee has been formed to determine the reson behind the explosion of the electric transformer.

He told Roya that all technicians are currently in the hospital receiving the necessary medical treatment, which JEPCO is covering.

Maharmeh noted that the explosion was not due to high pressure but low pressure, stressing the company's commitment to public safety, including employee's unforms.
