Palestinians on Tuesday held a general strike and demonstrations across the occupied West Bank following the death of the Palestinian prisoner Nasser Abu Hmaid in an Israel Occupation prison.

Abu Hmaid, 50, died Tuesday morning after suffering from cancer for several years, according to the Palestinian Prisoner's Society (PPS).

The PPS said that Abu Hmeid died due to years of medical negligence.

He had entered into a coma two days ago and was transferred yesterday from Ramle clinic prison to a hospital in the Israeli Occupation.

The Prisoners' Affairs Authority had warned of the death of the prisoner Abu Hmaid at any moment as the Israeli Occupation deliberately practiced medical negligence against him.

Abu Hmaid was diagnosed with lung cancer in August 2021. Several attempts to get him released to receive treatment outside the prison failed.

He was serving multiple life terms for resisting the Israeli Occupation.

Abu Hmaid was the commander-in-chief of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, and he was from Al-Amari camp in Ramallah.
