The Jordanian Medical Syndicate said that it followed with great interest what was stated in the video that was circulated during the past two days on social media, in which a person from a foreign country appears accusing a Jordanian doctor of wrong and unprofessional medical procedures.

In a press statement Saturday, the Syndicate, through its media spokesperson, Dr. Maysam Akroush, called on citizens, residents and visitors to Jordan not to pay attention to this kind of slander and the attempts of some to question the competence of the Jordanian doctor or to undermine the distinguished Jordanian medical achievement.

The Medical Syndicate confirmed that Jordan occupies an advanced position among the Arab countries in the field of medical tourism.

Akroush stressed that Jordan's success in medical tourism is due to several reasons, most notably the availability of highly qualified cadres in the disciplines of medicine, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, medical engineering and other health disciplines, the presence of qualified infrastructure, the availability of logistical services, the quality of medical services provided in Jordan and their availability at reasonable prices.

She also pointed out that among the reasons for the demand for treatment in Jordan is the valued position that Jordan occupies in the field of health and medical care, in addition to the availability of guaranteed and effective health insurance systems, the large number of internationally accredited Jordanian hospitals, and the availability of health resorts.

She pointed out that this success may not be pleasing to some, so they resort to trying to cast doubt through the production of videos and negative media materials about the reality of the Jordanian medical sector from time to time, and some of them circulate old fabrications with the intent of confusing and harming medical tourism, which has become a focus of great interest for the Jordanian state because it plays a major role in supporting the national economy.

She emphasized that despite these skeptical attempts at the medical sector and medical tourism in Jordan, the necessary measures were taken to find out the reasons for what was mentioned in the circulating video through the formation of the Jordanian Medical Association of a technical medical committee that studied all the rationales that accompanied the medical procedures and the surgical interventions that were made to the patient.

The Technical Committee confirmed what was stated in the previous investigation committee’s decision issued on September 22nd, which was recorded in the Syndicate Council’s minutes at the time, and that there were no medical errors or abuses in the treatment procedures taken for the patient, whether by the hospital or the treating doctor, noting at the same time that the case is still pending before the just Jordanian judiciary.

Akroush affirmed that the Physicians' Syndicate reserves the right to take all legal measures it deems appropriate and at the appropriate time against all those who may be tempted to slander the Jordanian medical sector and its cadres or harm its reputation.
