COVID-19 infections rise by nearly 40 percent in four weeks in Jordan

In the past four weeks, the percentage of coronavirus infections in Jordan has increased by nearly 40 percent.

Official figures indicated that COVID-19 death rates among those aged between 75 and 84 are the highest, with a rate of 27.53 percent of the total deaths (3,064 deaths), including 1,832 males and 1,232 females.

The age group 65-74 ranked second, with a rate of 26.57 percent (2,957 deaths) of the total deaths, including 1,803 males and 1,154 females, followed by the age group 55-64, which ranked third and reached 19.81 percent (2,205 deaths), including 1,367 males and 838 females.

The age group 45-54 ranked fourth, with a rate of 10.5 percent (1,168 deaths), including 743 males and 426 females.

The age group which includes those aged 85 years old and above ranked fifth, with a rate of 8.92 percent (993 deaths), including 547 males and 446 females. 

The age group 35-44 years ranked sixth, with a rate of 4.19 percent (466 deaths), including 241 males and 225 females.

The age group 25-34 ranked seventh, with a rate of 1.65 percent (184 deaths), including 80 males and 104 females, followed by the age group 15-24, which ranked eighth, with a rate of 0.53 percent (59 deaths), including 29 males and 30 females.

The age group 5-14 years ranked ninth, with a rate of 0.18 percent (20 deaths), including nine males and 11 females.

The death rate among those aged less than five years old reached 0.11 percent (12 deaths), all of whom were males.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, Jordan has confirmed 875,804 cases and 11,128 deaths.
