Jordan offers condolences to Pakistan over earthquake victims

The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates expressed its deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to the government and people of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan over the deaths caused by a 5.9-magnitude quake that struck Balochistan this morning.

At least 20 people died after the roofs and walls of their mud brick houses collapsed at three in the morning on Thursday and hundreds were injured.

The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ambassador Haitham Abu Al-Ful, expressed the Kingdom's solidarity and standing with the government and people of Pakistan, and Jordan’s deepest condolences to the families of the victims, and he also wished for a speedy recovery to the injured.

The Jordanian Foreign Ministry announced, through its Operations Center and the Jordanian Embassy in Islamabad, is following up the conditions of Jordanian citizens residing in the areas that were hit by the earthquake.

As of Thursday morning, no Jordanians were reported to have been injured or dead, according to the Ministry’s announcement.

The ministry called on Jordanians residing in Pakistan to take the utmost care and caution, and to abide by the public safety instructions issued by the Pakistani authorities.
