Here are the latest developments regarding the spread of the coronavirus in the world Monday, in light of the latest numbers, new measures and facts:

- Significant increase in the number of injuries in Idlib -

Since the middle of last month, Idlib Governorate and its surroundings have recorded a noticeable increase in the number of coronavirus infections with the spread of the Delta mutation in the area that suffers from a lack of medical care services.

"We are witnessing a violent and unexpected wave," the official in charge of the Corona file in the Idlib Governorate Health Directorate, Dr. Husam Qara Muhammad, told AFP. 

He noted that in the third week of August it was found that "96 percent of the infections are with the Delta mutation."

- Pope calls for solidarity -

Pope Francis called on Europe to show "solidarity" during the economic recovery from the pandemic, during his visit to Slovakia, one of the countries most affected by the epidemic on the European continent.

- The Vietnamese flee -

Fifteen people, including a seven-year-old boy, were found inside a refrigerator truck in Vietnam after trying to flee areas imposed by lockdown measures in the virus-hit south.

The Corona virus has killed at least 4,627,854 people in the world since the World Health Organization office in China reported the emergence of the disease at the end of December 2019, according to a census conducted by Agence France-Presse.

The United States is the most affected country in terms of deaths (659,975), followed by Brazil with 586,851 deaths, India with 442,874 deaths, Mexico with 267,748 deaths, and Peru with 198,764 deaths, according to official figures.

The World Health Organization, taking into account the excess mortality rate directly or indirectly related to Covid-19, considers that the outcome of the epidemic may be two or three times greater than the officially announced outcome.
