Khasawneh speaks about government's economic priorities program

Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh Sunday spoke about the details of the government's economic priorities program for the years 2021-2023.

This came during the visit of His Majesty King Abdullah II Sunday to the Cabinet and chairing part of the Cabinet session, in the presence of His Highness Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II.

The program is based on three main topics, including improving the investment environment and businesses in Jordan; enhancing competition and stimulating the private sector as a key partner to provide sustainable job and employment opportunities in light of the public sector’s limited capacity to absorb graduate; and supporting priority economic sectors, most notably the sectors of information technology, agriculture, industry, tourism and energy.

Khasawneh pointed out that the goals that the program seeks to achieve are to enable the private sector to increase and stimulate domestic and foreign investments and increase exports of goods and services.

Khasawneh indicated that the program will be reviewed every six to nine months, stressing the government's commitment to implement all of its priorities, goals and projects within the specified times.

Sunday, His Majesty King Abdullah II was briefed on the government's economic work priorities, directing the government to take clear and quick measures so that citizens and the private sector can feel their impact.

His Majesty will be provided with a monthly report on the progress of work.

During the meeting, His Majesty stressed the need to make better use of available opportunities and as quickly as possible in order to face unemployment and restimulate growth.

His Majesty indicated the importance of continuing dialogue and partnership with the private sector, stressing the need to work as a team.
