The Arab League Tuesday expressed its full support for the Tunisian people, and its wishes to quickly pass the current turbulent phase, and restore stability and calm and the state's ability to work effectively in order to respond to the aspirations and requirements of the people.

The statement came during a telephone conversation between the Secretary-General of the League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, and the Tunisian Foreign Minister, Othman Grandi, during which they discussed the developments in Tunisia that led to the recently announced presidential decisions.

An official source in the General Secretariat of the League said that the Tunisian minister presented, during the phone call, the political situation in the country and the interactions that led to the issuance of the recent presidential decisions.
