Qatar began implementing new procedures for travel Sunday, opening its doors to more tourists.

The new procedures for travel to Qatar will be implemented through its air, land and sea ports, which include classifying countries into three green, yellow and red lists according to the level of risk in each country and the testing and quarantine policy.

The Qatari Ministry of Health said in a statement that all visitors and arrivals who have been fully vaccinated will be allowed to enter the country, explaining that the recognized vaccines in Qatar include Viserbiontech, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, and Sinopharm.

The statement called on visitors to register on a special website at least 12 hours before travel, as arrivals will be asked upon arrival to provide relevant travel documents.

Quarantine rules have also been changed for unvaccinated citizens and residents.

In its statement, the ministry indicated that non-vaccinated citizens and residents traveling from the green list countries will be subject to a five-day home quarantine, with a PCR test on the fourth day after arrival, while arrivals from the yellow list countries will be subject to quarantine in the hotel for seven days, with a PCR test on the sixth day.

Those coming from the red list countries will be subject to a quarantine in the hotel for ten days, with a PCR test on the ninth day.

The statement indicated that citizens and residents who were infected with the virus in Qatar during the past 12 months are exempted from quarantine upon return from abroad, if they have not shown symptoms of the disease and the result of their PCR examination is negative.  Those who were diagnosed with the coronavirus in any GCC country and who have obtained at least one dose of a vaccine approved by the Ministry of Health in Qatar will be exempted from quarantine provided that they present a valid official certificate containing details of the previous infection issued by the local Ministry of Health in a GCC country.

According to the statement, there are 11 Arab countries in the yellow list, including Jordan, Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Kuwait, Morocco, Oman, Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, Comoros and Djibouti, while the red list includes 10 Arab countries: Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Palestine, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia and Yemen.
