Friday, a member of the National Committee for Epidemics Bassam Hijjawi spoke about the COVID-19 situation in the Kingdom as sectors reopen and the risk of another wave of the coronavirus pandemic is looming.

Hijjawi stressed that vaccination is the solution, noting that Jordan is getting closer to vaccinating all those who registered for COVID-19 vaccination with the first dose, which is approximately 2.9 million people.

Hijjawi pointed out that failing to reach the four million mark would slow down the process of reaching a safe summer.

He pointed out that the decision to open vaccination sites on Fridays came to speed up the vaccination process and vaccinate the largest number of people in order to reach community immunity.

Hijjawi noted that 23 people tested positive for the mutated Indian COVID-19 strain, adding that the situation is stable in the Kingdom.
