The Syrian security services managed to uncover the murder of a girl who was tortured by her father's wife in the Al-Qusayr area of Homs.

According to a statement by the Ministry of the Interior through its Facebook account, information was received from the police of the Qusayr region in Homs stating the death of an eight-year-old girl, identified as Zeinab H., whose parents buried her in a suspicious manner in the village of Heet in the region.

The Ministry of the Interior said that the Public Prosecution was informed and decided to launch an investigation into the matter, and through collecting information, it was found that the young girl suffered from brain atrophy and hypoxia, unable to speak and move, due to severe hitting of the girl’s head against walls and wooden objects, burning her with a metal skewer, leaving her untreated, and removing her right ear completely off, all by the hands of her father's wife.

Notably, the girl’s grandmother used medicines for the treatment of cows and sheep on the girl’s wounds, which led to her death.

The Ministry of the Interior said that the Public Prosecution was informed and decided to open an investigation into the matter. Through collecting information, it was found that the aforementioned girl was suffering from brain atrophy and hypoxia, unable to speak and move, and her father is married to a second woman.

During the investigation with the wife, identified as Shireen, she confessed of the abuse.

In turn, the father admitted being aware of the abuse by the hands of his wife on his daughter.

Autopsy results revealed her cause of death to be due to her wounds and burns.

The Syrian Ministry of Interior indicated that the necessary action has been taken against the arrested, and they will be brought to justice to receive their just punishment.
