The head of the Tourist Hotels Association in Petra, Tariq Tweissi, expected that about 800 employees in the tourism sector will return to work in Petra tourist facilities by September.

He said in a statement to Roya that the tourism sector lost 1,400 employees and workers out of 1,600 working in Petra, noting that tourism was the sector most affected by the pandemic.

Tweissi said the tourism sector in Petra in cooperation with the health sector and the Petra Regional Authority, are on the verge of completing the final preparations to receive the summer season for local tourism.
