Wednesday, the Iranian navy announced that its largest ship caught fire and later sank in the Gulf of Oman. 

The Iranian navy said in a statement that the crew of the “Kharg” ship had been evacuated before it sank off the port of Jask in southern Iran.

Investigations are currently underway to determine the cause of the fire.
