Palestine confirms 18 deaths and 861 new coronavirus cases

Palestine recorded 18 deaths and 861 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, announced the Palestinian Minister of Health Mai al-Kaila Friday.

The new deaths involved seven in the West Bank and 11 in Gaza Strip.

The recovery rate in Palestine stands at 92.4 percent, while the active case rate is 6.5 percent and the death rate is 1.1 percent.

The new coronavirus cases included 36 in Tulkarm; nine in the suburbs of Jerusalem; 98 in Nablus; 17 in Tubas; 59 in Jenin; four in Salfit; 26 in Hebron; five in Qalqilya; 29 in Ramallah and al-Bireh; six in Bethlehem; and 572 in Gaza Strip.

The recovery cases included 10 in Tulkarm; three in the suburbs of Jerusalem; 225 in Nablus; 19 in Tubas; 81 in Jenin; 49 in Hebron; 26 in Qalqilya; 34 in Ramallah and al-Bireh; 13 in Bethlehem; 10 in Jericho and al-Aghwar; and 612 in Gaza Strip.

A total of 4,293 PCR tests have been conducted.

Currently, 142 people are in ICUs and 40 are on ventilators.

A total of 257,650 individuals received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, including 183,999 who received both doses.
