Tuesday, authorities in Mafraq carried out security inspections to remove unauthorized street vendors on the sidewalks.

The security campaigns aim to control unlicensed selling in commercial markets and to remove unlicensed stalls that are usually set up in busy areas and outside mosques.

Authorities in Mafraq received many complaints about these stalls and activities from merchants and citizens.

The Assistant Governor of Mafraq for Public Safety Affairs Nidal al-Hijazin said the inspections also aim to inspect the shops' commitment to fixed prices and quality standards.

Hijazin indicated that another committee has been formed to remove unlicensed stalls due to the large number of complaints that licensed shopkeepers and citizens submitted to the local authorities.

These campaigns are usually carried out to remove stalls situated on streets and sidewalks that obstruct traffic and slow down pedestrians.
